Optimizing user interactions for a Berlin university’s e-learning platform.

The Insider is an educational tool that simplifies how students handle their coursework. It helps with reviewing modules, accessing resources, and writing and submitting essays, all in one place. Using existing research, I developed a platform that makes it easy for students to navigate their academic tasks and stay organized throughout their studies.

I was brought in to update and optimize the e-learning web app for a university in Berlin. My role involved optimizing user interactions and integrating a new design system. I led the ideation, design, and hand-off through iteration with stakeholders, working closely with the development team.

It became clear that students commonly watch course videos on their phones and then abandon them, which led us to rethink how they could easily return to their place later.

A crucial aspect we discovered during interviews was that students often use their phones to watch course videos and then leave them unfinished. This insight guided the mobile design, where I focused on making it easy for students to pick up where they left off. To address this, I designed a dashboard that provides an overview of their recent actions, allowing them to quickly find and resume content.
